Privacy Policy
Pilot Computer is built on trust, the same trust a checkride demands. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you keep over your data, in plain language.
01Information We Collect
We collect the information needed to run your training, only what the product genuinely requires:
- Account information. Your name, email address, password (stored only as a salted hash), and optional profile details such as your certificate level, home airport, or target checkride date.
- Practice session data. The mock orals you run with Maverick, your AI DPE, including the audio of spoken answers, the text transcripts of those sessions, the questions asked, your responses, scores, and the feedback generated.
- Usage analytics. How you interact with the app, pages viewed, features used, session length, device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and diagnostic logs that help us fix problems.
- Payment information. Membership billing is handled by our payment processor. We receive confirmation of your subscription, plan, and renewal status, but we never see or store your full card number.
02How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Deliver your mock orals and generate scoring, feedback, and study recommendations.
- Track your progress over time and surface the weak areas worth studying next.
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the platform and Maverick.
- Process your membership, handle billing, and honor the pass-or-refund guarantee.
- Send service messages, important account notices, and (if you opt in) product updates.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your practice recordings or transcripts to target advertising.
03Voice & Audio Data
Mock orals are the heart of Pilot Computer, so we want to be especially clear about how voice data is handled. When you speak your answers, your audio is streamed to our speech-processing providers and converted to text so Maverick can understand and respond in real time.
We store the transcript of each session as part of your training history so you can review past sessions and track progress. Audio recordings are retained to power playback and to improve the accuracy and realism of Maverick, our scoring, and our speech recognition. When recordings are used to improve our models, we work with de-identified data wherever practical and never tie that work back to you publicly.
You can delete individual sessions at any time, or ask us to remove all of your voice data, from your account settings or by contacting us. Deleting a session removes both its transcript and its audio from your active history.
06Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Your training history, including transcripts and recordings, is retained so you can review your progress, until you delete it or close your account.
When you delete content or close your account, we remove or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it (for example, billing and tax records). Backups are purged on a rolling schedule.
07Data Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls that limit who can view your information, continuous monitoring, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, but we work hard to safeguard your data and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
You play a part too: use a strong, unique password and keep your login credentials private. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us right away.
08Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise many of these directly:
- Access & update. View and edit your account details and training history from your account settings.
- Delete. Remove individual sessions, your voice data, or your entire account at any time.
- Opt out. Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any message; service-related messages will still be sent.
To make a request or ask a question about your rights, reach us through our contact page. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
09Children's Privacy
Pilot Computer is built for student pilots and certificated pilots. You can begin training for a private pilot certificate at age 16 (14 for gliders and balloons), so we make the service available to users 16 and older.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are between 13 and the age of majority where you live, you should use Pilot Computer only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10International Users
Pilot Computer is operated from the United States, and our service providers may process and store your information in the United States and other countries. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from those where you live.
By using the service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place for international transfers of personal information.
11Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our product and the law evolve. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give you additional notice such as an in-app message or email. Your continued use of Pilot Computer after an update means you accept the revised policy.
12Contact Us
Questions, requests, or concerns about your privacy? We would genuinely like to hear from you. The fastest way to reach our team is through our contact page, where you can send a message directly to a real person on the Pilot Computer team.
This Privacy Policy is provided for transparency and does not constitute legal advice. Pilot Computer currently supports Private Pilot (PPL) oral exam preparation in the United States.
